There is a plaque--you can see it to the right of the entrance in the last photo-explaining Seward's connection to the house.<br /><br />General Henry Hunt, famed artillery officer in the Army of the Potomac also lived on G Street, and as of 2006 when I last checked, the house was still there. Also the Commissary General of Prisoners Office was located in what is now he Alumni House on F Street.
